Innovation needed for biotechs

An article in the San Francisco Chronicle believes that Biotech is in need of innovation, and points to diagnostics testing and biofuel production as the next possible chance, as it takes many many years to develop blockbuster drugs. Innovation was possible before because of the fact that investors were willing to risk time and money to come up with the next blockbuster drug. Innovation is critical in these few fields. Fierce Biotech recently released their annual study that shares the top five best places in the US and Canada that provide the best resources for innovative biotechs.

They are: Minnesota, Massachusetts, New York, Ontario, and Colorado.

India possibility for Australia's CROs Needs

Australia may need to turn to India for its future CROs needs. In this rocky climate, it proves to be the most cost-efficient way for Australians to develop new and innovative drugs. They are the number one location for biotechnology in the Pacific region and sixth in the world for developing drugs. Read more here.

Rashmi H. Barbhaiya, founder and CEO of Bangalore-based Advinus Therapeutics Pvt Ltd, had this to say about the possibilities:
"Australia has phenomenal strength in basic research in early drug discovery and identifying disease targets. My perception is to somehow translate this early drug discovery into identifying drug candidates for pre-clinical trials and clinical trials, wherein lies India’s strength."
